the south will rise again…

It’s rare that I pay any attention to invites to join groups and such on facebook; they’re usually pointless junk and from people I don’t know. However, I’m quite glad I paid attention to a recent one. The band looking for support was Michael Ford, Jr. and the Apache Relay, besides having one fantastic name for a band [why are bluegrass folks so good at that?], is truly an upcoming bluegrass delicacy. In the recent wave of young bluegrass groups, MF, Jr. has the lyricism and adaptability to cross over genre-specific fan bases [think like an Avett Brother’s spin off with a bit more twang].

Debut album, 1988, which was recorded at the well known Sound Kitchen studios in Nashville, drops September 1.
